Won by three-quarters of a length; half a head. Time, 1.57. Spiral, Grateful, Dungarvan and Friesland were smartest to begin but passing the post the first time Friesland nad charge from Master Cyklon, Dungarvan and Grateful together, closely followed by Spiral and One Whetu. Friesland ran wide at the turn out of the straight for Grateful and Dungarvan to take the lead from the firstnamed, with the remainder of the field closely i'ollowing. Down the back and around the far turn Grateful and Dungarvan held command from Friesland, who was just ahead of Master Cykloh jand Spiral on- terms. One Whetu was jmaking a forward move. Dungarvan wrested the lead from Grateful enter-. ing the straight and he was followed by Friesland, Grateful, dropping back,] |One Whetu, Spiral and Master Cyklon,j all racing together. Friesland hadii Dungarvan 's measure at the distance, going on to score comf ortably. Oue Whetu and Spiral had a great duel for second, for the former to prevail by, ihalf a head.
