(By Telegraph

Parry) jin the course of an interview before his i departuxe froin Rotorua on Saturday. ;Tthe Minister mentioned that the Gov- | ernment had decided to make lish vresearch a State activity and said that •the work would be closely prosecuted. ;He had gone very thoroughly into the position of the country's fisheries and 'he was satisfied New Zealand had ex,hausted its knowledge of its salt water .and fresh fish. As an instance he had found no set of anglers whose views [were alike when asked for opinions j'regarding the improvement of fresh ■water fishing. He was satisfied that an intense research was now necessary to guide the authorities in the proper ! development of the fisheries. The Fish 'Research Department established by ithe Government was working well and '.would, he felt, be of great value to the j'country.
