Short Legislature in British Columbia
VIGTOEIA, B. C. — Hroroguing after the shortest session in its history, the British Columbia Legislature looked . back ou some constructive legislation. It had reiieved the financial buxdens of .municipaiities to the extent of 691,000 dollars a year. It had empowered the Government to borrow 5,000,000 dollars for road and bridge construetion. It had put some new teeth into into the provinciai marketing aet to stop the " bootlegging" of agricultural products by Orieutais. It had increased appropriations for social services. It had reiieved farmers of substantiai amounts of taxatiou, in dyked areas. It had extended for a year the existmg moratorium on the principai of mortgages. It had iaid the foundation of a real poiicy of forestry conservation, the first important action taken to preserve the future timber wealth of western Ganada. This iourth session of the Eighteenlh Legislature may be its last, as a provincial election is generaily expected next year, either in June or in the autumn. ,
