Wellington Battalion Holds Meeting at Waipukurau

WAIPUKURAU, Lasf Night. The First Battalion of the AVeljington Regiment held a sports meeting this afternoon in fine but overcast weather. The nyjeting was run on the- tabloid system, six inen competing in each of the six teams that took part There were also several displays iucluding machine-gun drill and motorcycle riding. There are several divttrack riders with the battalion and exhibitions of formation riding," speed tests, and trick riding were ablyydeinonstrated. At the conclusion the Pipes and Drums and the Alilitary Band played "The Rehreat" and "The Regiment al March." The standards sefc were as follow : 150yds. sprint, 20secs. ; 50yds. backwaxdg race, 12secs ; 50yds hopping race, 12secs; high -jump, 3ft 6ins ; hop, step and jump 12ft ; and puttino- the shot 20ft. " 6 Results of the sports were : Rifle Company, No. . 1 team, 39 points, 1; Rifle Company No. 2 team, 37 points 2; Support Company, No. 2, 36, 3; H.Q. Wing No. 2, 36, 3; Support Coy. ko. 2, 32, 5; H.Q. Wing, No. 1, 27, 6.
