RUSH TO PAY RATES
Hastings Borough Oflices MONDAY THE FINAL DAY The rush. to pay the ratee for the now current year has set in in earnest at the Hastings Borough Council offices, and during the past two days very substantial arnounts have been paid, bringing the total to date up to over £25,500. The biggest daily receipts were recorded on Tuesday, when £2800 was paid in; yesterday just over £2000 was received. This morning 's mail was a heavy one, and the indications are that to-day and to-morrow. will be the heaviest days for the rate clerks, though Moiilay, tbe final date before the 10 per cent. pen* alty is added, usually is an exceptionallv busy day, a big number of ratepayers invariably leaving their obligations until the last possible moment.
