Dangers on Main Roads of Dominion EARLY ELIMINATION

CHE18TGHUEOH, This Day. Level crossings in Canterbury regarded as particularly dangerous and marked down for elimination were announced by tbe Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Transport, to-day. They are: Main South road at Ashburton; Marshland road at Chaney's; Main South road at Chertsey; Main South "road at Hornby; Main North road at Kaiapoi; Sockburn to Southbridge road at Prebbleton; Bakaia bridge, northern end; Main South road at Selwyn; Main South road at Sockburn; High street or Denmark Street, Temuka; main road to Hanmer at Waikari; new Eangitata deviation near Winchester. Mr. Semple said that the department had classified the crossings throughout the Dominion and 250 had been placed under the heading of particularly dangerous. These were to be eliminated just as soon as possible and ihe Canterbury crossings were on that list.
