(By Tehsgraph
WELLINGTON, Last Night. The 'New Zealand Post Office intends to issue special commemorative stamps at the time of the Coronation of his Majesty King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. "There will be three denominafcions," states the Postmaster-General, Hon. F. Jones, "namely ld (red), 2Jd (blue) and 6d (vermilion), and in shape and general design they will bear a close resemblanoe to the Silver Jubilee issue which was so popular. The oblong shape, about twice the size of the current penny stamp, will carry the portraits of their Majesties surrouniled by a frame in which will appear a distinctive New Zealand design. "The order; for the preparation of this issue," continued the PostmasterGeneral, "has already been placed with Messrs. Bradbury, Wilkinson and Company, Ltd., London, the printers of the Silver Jubilee stamps, and delivery will be made in . time to commence saies about the date of the Coronation early in May. The intaglio line-engraving method of reproduction is being utilisied as this gives a very clear impres* sion. The Coronation stamps will be on sale until Becember 31, temporarily re* .placing the pictorial stamps of the same jdenominations. ' "For Cook Islands and Niue the New 'Zealand Coronation stamps will be specially overprinted. In xospect to Samoa, a mandated territory, the Government will follow the precedent set by the United Kingdom which will not issue special commemorative stamps in xespect to mandated torritories and protectorates. A suggestion previiusly made that. there would be a King George V memorial stamp for New Zealand is not being proceeded with owing . i to the issue of the three CoronatiCB j stamDS."
