The Governor-General and Lady Galway left Wellington on Saturday by the Matua for Auckland, where they will connect with the Government steamer Matai and travel on board that vessel during her fortheoming light: - Uouse eruise. Afterward Their Excellencie.-! will go into residenee at Government Ifouse, Auckland, for a fev weeks. Mr E. L. Cullen, M.P., has returned to Hastings.
Constable A. E. Kearton, Napier, has resumed duty after annual leave. Mr J. P. Kalaugher, secretary of the New Zealand Friesian Association, is attending the Dannevirke Show. Mr Deryek Motley, of Pakowhai road. left by express yesterday morning for Wellington to join the Police Force Mr H. S. Bailey, Chief Secretary to the Victorian Government, was a passenger by the Awatea to Wellington yesterday. Sir Edmund Spriggs, a leading London physieian, aecompanied by Lady Spriggs, arrived at Wellington by the Awatea from Sydney yesterday, Professor W. A. Sewell and Professor P. W. Burbidge, of Auckland ITniversity College, have left for Australia, where they will attend the conference of Australian Universities. Mr H. J. Down, assistant supervisor at the Post Office Savings Bank. at Christchurch, has received notice of his promotion to the position of aecountant ; at Napier. He will leave for the north on Thursday. Mr C. Clark, Postmaster at Hastings, began his annual leave yesterday. During his absence Ke is being relieved by Mr A. W. Swap, of the G.P.O. staff Wellington,
