Venturesome batliers swimming in difficult surf which bad a strong "tidal set towards the notorious Lion Rock necessitated meinbers of the Piha -Surf and Life-Saving Club making five rescues yesterdav Several of the svvimmers assisted were in grave risli of drowning but, ae a result of the \igilance of the patrols none was seriously alfected.
