(Eecexved 8, 10.5 a.m.) . LONDON, Feb. 7 The Mayor of CanncB told th«. "Sunday Eeferee" that he expecta the Duke of Windsor and Mr* Wallis Simpson to marry there early in May. Reports from Vienna state that the marriage will he at the British Legation there on May 2. . The "Eeferee" says that Mrs Simp* son is shopping daily at Cannes, buying her trousseau, but, - in accordance with the Duke's wish, most of her gown* will he bought from British firms. Mrg Simpson is said to have recovered her former good spirits. She asked t tp Hungarian pianists at a recent dinnhr, party at Monte Carlo to play "Tch|(;ij Tchitt, Tchitt," a tune associated with her visit to Budapest with the Dhke last year. The Duke is reported to have placed an order for jewellery with a Pari* firm. It is helieved that the Princeas Eoyal will be the bearer of family plans for * settlement of the Duke of Windsor'* personal finances. A message from Vienna says that the Duke, apparently in excellent spirits, met the Princess Eoyal and Viscounfi Harewood at the station and the party, went to the British ^Legation for tea^ They are expected to go to. The "Star" says that Mrs Simpson is expected in Vienna on April 28 and rumours are being revived that she is marrying the Duke of Windsor in May, but no request has been made to the Church of Engiand authorities in Vienna for peraiission to hold the eere* mony at the. Mr •Her-' man Eogers, the host of Mrs Simpson, told the "Star" that no plans had' yet been made and it was impossible to say whether anything will he settlcd in the near future.
