TOURING FARMERS
Australian Party to Visit Hawke's Day NAPIER NEXT MONDAY A par.ty of 24 Australian farmers and their wives will arrive in Napier on Monday next, February 15, in the course of a three-weeks tour of the Dominion. They will stay in Napier until Wednesday morning, when they wifi leave for Masterton, The tour h,as been arranged by the Tourist Departmen'c which js controliing tbe visit. Arriving in Napier on Monday at 5.30 p.m., the party will on tlie next day be escorted around the district by officials of the Hawke's Bay branch of the Farmers' Union, As yet no decision has been made as to what entert.ainment will be provided the visitors, but the secretary of the union, Mr D, Balbarry, infornjed the "Herald-Tribune" this morniilg that a meeting was shortly to be held, when the makter would be discussed. "Th© visitors will probably be taken to see the freezing-works in the morning," he said, "and iu the afternoon they wifi be able to visjt stud farms ahd other places of interest." Tbe women members of the party will probably be catered for by the Hastings members of the Women'a Division of tbe Farmers' Union. Th© party arrived in Wellington by the Awatea this morning, and they will finish their tour on Monday, February 29, when they leave by tbe Marama from the Bluff for Melbourne. Members of the party are South Australia: Mr- A. G. Bennett, Mr A. L. E. Spehr, Mr J. M. Wray, Mr R. P. Haynes, Mr A. E. Blight, M. T. Oborn, Mr J, W. Bourn, Mr A. E. Sheidow, Mr and Mrs O. W. Ness, Mr A, J, Vigar, Mr H, R. Marsh, Mr G. R. ttundle, Mr G. R. Davidson, Mr Sedsman. Yictoria: Mr F. T. Clifford, Mr and Mrs G. Trewin, Mr R. Willis, Mr and Mrs W. Coutts, Mr D. G. Coutts. New South Wales. Mr G.' McAllister. West Australia; Mrs A. M. Franeis. Mr W. Coutts has been appointed leader and Mr Spehr deputy leader. Mrs Francis will represent the women. The party will be conducted on the tour by Mr W. F. Swift, of the Tourist Department. Mr Sedsman is a journalist, and is coverisg the trip for an Adelaid© publication.
