Annual Meeting Makes Increase in Subscriptions

WAIPAWA, Last Night. The annual meeting of the Waipawa Golf Club was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Friday evening, the president, Mr N. J. McKay, being in the chair. A recommendation from the committee that subscriptions be increased by 10/6 in all sections resulted in an almost unanimous vote' in its favour. The committee intends to open up additional holes this season and to expend a considerable amount on further improvements about the course. To accomplish this purpose members readily agreed to increasie their subscriptions. The election of officers for the coming season resulted : — President, S. W. Strang j vice-presidents, Messrs R. Bishop and G." Shackleford ; captain, Mr E. J. Watts; vice-captain, Mr C. E. T. Woods ; secretary, Mr J), H. Ed* wards; auditor, Mr E. W. Chisholm; committee, Messrs Jopson, Tickner, Norris, Shackleford, Knobloch and Stewartj handicapper, Mr E. J. Watts. The maximum handicap for all club events was made 34. Votes of thanks were accorded to Messrs. Kittow Bros. and the Waipawa Rivers Board for the use of their propertiesj to Messrs Wheeler, Pratley, and Clayton for valued assisfanoe; to Mr Strang as course supervisor; and to the ladies' club for attending to the welfare of visiting ciubs. Nominations of teai new members were referred to the committee for confirmation. Indications .are for an early opening this season, and the greens should be well established and fit for play by Easter.
