Young Si.ores Better Buying
(By' Tei«frra£h-
HAMILTON, " Last' Night. Although it was stated "at the time forward' delivery was in full swing in the Gisborne district that prices for storevsheep were high, there is ' no doubt that those farmers who purchased • their breeding eives forward will now be very satisfied with their deals, as the present- prides are- at least 8/to 10/- per head more. Just how long these high prices will continue is" difib cult to say, but it must be realised that to-day's values are getting very close to daiiger'point: There is no doubt that on the market young sheep are the better buying, but with the large number of ejves that is already handled and the big volume of ; business that is scheduled to take place in the near future it wili be surprising if tho sheep market, especially for the agied ewe, does not show signs of weakening. Store wethers, which to a certain extent were neglected, are now becoming mor© popular, while very good numbers of store -lambs changed - hands at all saies. Best two-tooth ewes have made from £2 to £2 5/-; smaller, 38/- to 38/6; mixed- aged ewes, 33/to 35/-; 5 year olds, 32/6 to 36/'-; 6-yr ewes 28/- to 32/-; sound-mouthed ewes 27/- to 29/-; aged ewes, 24/- to 25/-; cuils, 18/- to 20/-; best ewe lambs up to 30/-; medium 25/- to 28/-; smaller 23/- to 24/6; shorn wether lambs 18/- to 19/6; smaller, 15/- to 17/-; cull lambs, 12/- to 13/-; forward conditioned 4-th wethers 26/- to 27/'-; 2-th wethers 25/- to 26/- ; smaller, 23/to 24/-.
