It is learned that Miss Catliff becamo engaged, whereupon Mr Hamil sent a congratulafory telegrani: The "Daily Mail" suggests that loneliness becausa his wife and children were absent, unhappiness over a friendship he feared he had lost and worry over his businesa, into which he had put his life savings, may be among the causes of the tra^ gedy. A Liverpool friend of Mr Hamil saya it was a hard blow to him to leave hii wife and children behind, hut he v®l»d the children to continue their education.
