English Critic's Lament
(Eeceived 5, 11.5 a.m.)
LONDON, Feb. 4. The evening papers' Test thame ii disappointment combined with hopeful-t ness for -the fifth Test. Carson says: "The defeat was due first to England 's lost opportunity iu the first innings and secondly to th# bowling of Fleetwood-Smith, who bowL ed better than ever previously. O'Eeilly was comparatively innocuous and McCormick inaccurate. England were much inferior to the Australians be-* tween the wickets. The Australia* pitehes are far more suitable to FleOt-f wood-Smith thau to Farnete, Voce pa; Allen. ' '
