CHBISTOHURCH, Feb. 3. A dense fog made conditions unpleasant for early work at Riccarton this morning, but with the horses doing only easy tasks there was a minimum o±\ inconvenience. The fog lifted gradually and the sun shone brightly after breakfast. Polydora was sent twice over two .schooling brush hurdles, giving a good display. Several trainers sont young horses away from the five furlongs barrier for education, some being allowed to run down the straight at a strong pace. Mr W. E. Hazlctt arrived last night from Invercargill with Golden Lap and Blazon. The former will probably jump brush hurdles to-morrow in view of Saturday's engagement and Blazon will be given a run over steeplechase fences, as he is to compete in the autumn crosscountry events in Southland. Some other visiting horses are due to arrive to-night.
