Seaman's Unlucky Struggle on Board Ship

CJHRISTUHUKUH, Last Night. Jack Leaf, oiler and one-tiane ama* teur wrestler, received . serious injuries to an eye, which it is feared he may lose, in a disturbance on board the motorship Limerick last evening. ' It is alleged that in a struggle with another member of the crew, Leaf fell, striking his eye against the corner of a dropside table. The Limerick, when five miles out from the Heads, was seen to turn and re-enter harbour. It was found that Leaf had a badly injured eye and on return to Lyttelton he was taken to the Christcburch publio hospital and this morning was reported as being on the not-seriously-ill list. Leaf, who is of Maori. blood, is • married man and his home is in Wellington.
