LATE MR P. J. SCULLIN

CoIIeagues Pay Last Tribute of Respect The funeral of ^fr. Phillip J. Scullin, late overseer to the Hawke's Eay Rivers Board, took place yesterday afternoon and was one of the laroest seen in the district for a very long time. Eepresentatives of the Rivers Board, Hawke's Bay County Council, Napier Borough Council and practically ©very public body in the district were among those present. Requiem Mass was condncted in the morning at St. Patriek's Church by the Rev. Father McKenna, and a servie at the church before the funerai took place was condueted by the Very Rev. Dean Holley. the service at the graveside being carried out by the Kev Father Reardon. The pall-bparers were Messrs. Sam Scullin (brother) P^il Scullil1 ((nephews), c! M. Olhyer, E. Grant, F. Williams, and 1. Mackm, the last-named officially at the graveside only. . Included into the veryi leugthy runeral cortege was a very full attendance of Rivers Board workers, to whom the _ passing away of their esteemed chief had been a great blow A very large number of beautiful wreaths were received, while telegrams and other messages of sympathy came in large numbers t'rom all parts of the province and even beyond. Ihe very large gathering of m'ourners at the graveside yesterday was a tribute to the very high esteem in which Mr. Scullin was held, and an earnest of the deep regret at his passing,
