Entries Beat Records At Wallingford Sports UNPLEASANT WIND

WAIPUKURAU, Last Nigbt. The Wallingford sports wel'e held yesterday at Wallingford, and beat all previous records. in spite of the violent wind all day. The gate takings and the entries were larger than fof some years past. J In the big jumping event there were I 15 entries compared with last year, and 29 entries for the turning competition against 19 last year. The dog trial compebitions were an innovation this year. They attracted good entries. An iinp tuipt.' eveut wh'.ch created a good deai of inter«-tt I was a challenge by the Atua Station j to the Wallingford Sr.a1/ion to cuntest a foot relay race. Wallingford accepted immediately, but lost the race to the Atua team. The weight-guessing competitions were remarkable in that the winner of the 6heep weight-guessing, Mr A. Houseman, estimated the weight to within Jlb., and in the lamb weightguessing Mrs R. P. Wilder and Mr V. 1). Hill tied with a guess of 55lbs., which proved to be the correct weight. Mr T. Geenty won the two points challenge cups outright this year, this being his second year in succession to 6ecure most points for both the club's silver challenge cup for the greatest nuraber of points in all horse events (Mr Geenty' s total being 13), and Mr W. Fleming's challenge cup for the greatest numher of points in horse events other than jumping, Mr Geenty scoring an agjgre^ate o£vll points. Results wero HORSE EVENTS. Pony jump. — Miss D.
