EVENING WEDDING HELD IN NAPIER

McCutcheon — Maxwell Cannas, hydrangeas and trails of clamatis made a charming decoration in St. Augustine's jChurch, Napier, reeently for the evening wedding of Winifred, daughter of Mrs. M. Maxwell and thq late Mr. A. E. Maxwell (late oi Napier), to Reginald, son of the Rev. and Mrs. E. A. McCutcheon, of Rotorua, late of Napier district, the bridegroom's father performing the ceremony. Mr. Ernest Jamieson presided at the organ and during the service the hymn "The Voice That Breathe.d O'er Eden" wa3 sung. The bride was escorted by her orother, Mr. E. A. S. Maxwell, Wellington, who gave her away. She wore i gown of ivory satin cut on classieal dnes and gracefully trained. The skirt was cut away to the ankles in front, revealing the satin shoes. The bodice was cut with a high neckline, "V ! shaped in front, and had a simple i'agotted cowl yoke. White satin buttons fastened the back of the .bodiee, and the full fcishop sleeves. Handmade satin flowers clasped the belt at . the waistline. The tulle veil, lent by a friend, wats arranged from a halo of pleated tulle and held in posltion by a wreath of orange .blossom, Completing the ensemble was a lovely sheaf of white gladioli and tiny mauve flowers to wbich a silver "good luckM horseshoe (the gift of the best man) was hung by a satin ribbon. The .bridesmaids were the Misses Ley Howard, of Nelson (chief), and Aline Buckley. They were frocked alike in Marina blue geor^ette fashioned with long full gored skirts inset with deep godets of pleated georgette. The bodices were cut with a high neckline and finished with Peter Pan collars of silver lame and full bishop sleeves, Diamente buttons trimmed the bodices from neck to waist in front and folded belts of georgette were clasped at the back with silver crescent shaped buckles. Each wore a halo of silver lame on her hair and carried a bouquet of apricot-tinted flowers. Two flower girls, Doree Maxwell and Jean Allen, nieces of the bride, were frocked alike in apricot figured organdie made with long, full skirts, Vshaped bodices and puff sleeves finish* efl with a frill, > frills also trimming the neckline. Sashes of apricot ribbon were worn and a matching hair ribbon tied in a bow. Each carried a basket of pastel-tinted flowers. The duties of best man were entrusted to Mr; E. S. Anderson, Taumarunui (cousin of the bridegroom) and those of groomsman to Mr. l». Hawke. Messrs. J. Maxwell and V, Clareburt carried out the duties of ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Foresters' Hall. All the usual toasts were honoured at the supper. Table decorations were i artisticallyr done in apricot and green tonings. Suspended above the bridal couple was a handsome wedding bell and in front of them was jlaced the three-tiered cake iced by a friend and decorated with silver favouris. Mrs. Maxwell (mother of the bride) received in a model frock of beige lace cut on long lines and having a red spray on the shoulder. A beige-

brown hat was worn and she carried a bouquet of red flowers arranged with fine fern. Mrs. McCutcheon (mother of the bridegroom) was gowned in grey silk marocain worn with a black silk coat, black hat with pink and mauve relief ; she carried a bouquet to toue. The honeymoon was spent in a motor tour of the North Island and Mrs, R. McCutcheon travelled in a grey .costume with lighter strine wom with jumper blouse off white organdie embroidered in Ted and brown. Her brown straw hat was finished with an eye veil and accessories.
