SCENTED SHOULDER SPRAYS ARE LOVELY TRIMMING
Scented sprays of velvet flowers are lovely, including lilies in many varieties, orchids of varying hues, and roses of every colour, some of which are quite alien to tlie garden roses, but ate nevertheless very captivating. Floral sprays of dyed stiffened lace are pretty, but they are extravagant. Painted chiffon is responsible for many of the' most beautiful sprays — this material is transparent and fragile in appearance, and is perhaps an extravagance, too. All dress sprays are ephemeral, but they are too alluring to be passed by. Fashionable dressbaker^ have varying ideas about the flowers they like and the way in which they like thern used. One artist in dress is using loose bunches of herbaceous horderers and gallardias j another one has a preference for long-stemmed roses set at throat and waistline; and another man who leads fashions is using flowers made of rub'ber— a material which is most effective as posies for tailor-mades. So fragile in appearance that a gentle puff might blow them a mile away are sprays of orchids in white and delicate tints, made of very fine plumage that looks hke chiffon. Each bloom is perfectly shaped and the sprays are graceful jn their delicious daintiness. They are backed with leaves of asparagus . fern. The mention of rubber is a reminder of somefmng very necessary for wet weather — a pair of "double life" overboots made with douhle soles and comfortably built heels of fine moire rub'ber. These are well shaped, are cosily lined, and are guaranteed to keep the feet clry no matter how severe . the rain. Th©y are made in rubber of black and brown, with a two-button flap across the instep. This practical necessity is about the height of the "Hi Roy," i.e., that of a low boot. For health's sake it has everything to recomnjend it.
