MR PHILLIP SCULLIN
The death took place yesterday after* fioon of Mr Fhilip Sculliii, who for sixteen years has been OVerSeef td thi HaWke'S Bay Rivers Board. Bfior ti that he had been for a number of yeari Cbployed by the Napief Borough Council and for Mr McGaffin, contractor. The late Mr Phil. Scullin was the soa of the late Mr Philip ScfiUin, contraC" tor, of Meeanee, and was born at Meeanee. He was educated at thd Meeanee Convent Schooi and the Mafist Brothers' Schooi, Napier. He wfis fof many years One of Hawke's Bay's indst prominent footballefs, having beeii Captain of the Napier Old Boys' Football Club and a nnember of the Mafist Brdthers' Old Boys' Football Club. He had represented Hawke's Bay in reprenentative fixtureson a numlief of occasions, and was recognised aa one of tha best forwards this province has j^roduced. In his capaeity of overseer to the Hawke 's Bay Rivers Hoaf d fof so many years his conscientious performance of His duty at all times and under all cit-1 cumstances, gained him the high esteeni and respeet of all with wliom he came iii contact, while his consideratidn for those under him gave him a warm plaee in theif hearts. In private life the same qualities of sttict integrity, kindly forethought and conslderation gainbd for him a wide circle df friends to whom his passing away in the flower o £ his manhood will bring genuine sorfOw, He leaves a W'idow and five SoriS, whom tlie gympathy of the whole com^ munlty will be ckteiided in their bfirt ; feavemonL - — * — j
