MAORI QUEEN CARNIVAL

The climax of the Maori Queen Carnival will take place in the Assembly Hall, Hastings, to-night. The ball will open at eight o'clock to the music of Mr Bunny Otene's orchestra. About 10 p.m. there will be the procession of the Maori queen in all her glory, aocompanied by her retinue of maids and warriors. The Maori mata and greenstone ornaments are all genuine and of grea± v^lue. In the unavoidable absence of ihe Mayor, wlio is away from town, his deputy, Mr A. I. Rainbow, will perform the actual crowning, Great interest has been arouied, among tlie Maoris especially, and the gathering tonight should bo full ojj jnterest.
