Buying at Closing of London Saies LONDON,. Jan. 27. The first series of wool saies closed with an offering of 6306 bales, including 1675 New Zealand; 4732 were sold. There was a moderate selection and good demand for the best kinds owing to Russian inquiry. Inferior types'were largely withdrawn. During the series 106,600 bales were offered and 94,500 sold. The home trade bought 47,000 bales, the Continent 45,500 and America 20,000. The tendency throughout was firm. but quiet towards the end. ■ ! • Compared with the cjpsing prices of the last series prices were from par to 15 per cent higher. ' >
