Banker's Advice on Trade Recovery THE FUTURE BRIGHT

LONDON, Jan. 26. Mr Reginald McKenna, presiding at the annual meeting of the Midland Bank, uttered a warning against excessive speculation. There was at present no signs of speculative mania developing in Britain, he said, and for that reason banks should use the opportunity to prevent the possibility. They had powers to restnct credit to legitimate trade and to reluse easy money to speculators. The general recovery in business was not yet ended ; though last year's rate of expansion might not be maintaxood there were uo signs of the expansion leading to dearer money. The banks had, a wide margin of resourees ai ailable for advance should ^reaper cfemands be made on them. The future could be viewed with confidenee. World trade promised to recover fu thcr if peace was maintained.
