WOMAN SEEKS BEAUTY BY FAITH HEALING
In olden days girls were wont to visit St, Catherine 's, Ghapel on a slope near Milton, Abbey Church, on the Dorset Downs, and beseech St, Catherine tf send them husbands. Nowadays/the modern spinster haf forgotten all about St. Catherine, but something akin to the aneient practics occurred recently, A pilgrimage of 500 to the f aitlfchealing at Milton Abbey was joined by a girl in search of beauty. She wants a husband, but her unpr» possessing looks are her chief obstacle to matrimony. Men simply pass her by, So she thought she might be helped by attending the healing centre run by Bev. John MaillaTd, known as the "miracle man," who conducts spiritual healing work in London and Brighton. The chaplain, Fr. Edwards, told a re•porter after the service: "I do not knoW this girl. If any woman came with the primary object of getting her looks improved she would be dieappointed." The service was the sdxth which has been held since Milton Abbey was opened as a faith-healing centre in June. Mr. Maillard is planning several important extensions at 'Milton Abbey epsting £10,000. "He plans to build a .retreat house, a convalescent home, and a children 'p hospital," Fr. Edwards said, "Mr Maillard is making a public appeal fot: £10,000 to cover the cost of the work. "Nest year he is touririg the United States to lecture on spiritual healing. He hopes to raise £60,000 by the time the tour is completed. I think that spiritual healing will sweep the whole of America."
