Excitement at Norsewood

NORSEWOOD, Last night. A fire in a thick hedge ( abo'ut 20 f eet high cause'd exeitcment Ishortly after nine 0 'clock last ('night.** The kedge, whieh is in f ront of - the schoolhouse, harboured .'a .large ,accum.ulaHon of dry pifie 'needles, and twigs, and' was soon a roaring f urnaee, .with . showers 1 of. sparks and flames .shooting.high in Lhe air. v ' 1 ' . Had. there been a* strong .y^ind at the 'time the schoolhouse and also the school would have been- in' immediate dauger. . A large number* of cars'' were pafked near the hedge, . there being a funetion in .the Town '■ Hall nearby These""had to be moved to .safety. There; was no wind. and a "bucket brigade ' ' managed to check . the ' fire after it had travelled ; ab'out 40 f eet along the hedge. The origin is not k'nown but the ,outbreak was. probably started by the dfopping,of: alm"ateh,
