TAKAPUNA FIELDS

-Press Association.)

Acceptances Declared

(By Telest/aph-

AUCKLAND, Last Night. Acceptances for the first day of the Takapuna meeting are as under: —

Mister Quex, who beat Royal Minstrel at Ashhurst and then won another race later the same afternoon, was raced in his early career by Mr E. W. Collins, of Palmerston North and at his first start sprang a great surprise by defeating Pillow Pight in a two-year-old raee at Napier Park. He was then labelled as a likely sort, but subsequent efforts resulted in failures and at three years of age he was turned out. Eventually Mr Collins sold him for 25 guineas, with a few more guineas out of his first win. Now an aged gelding, he has been brought back to the racing track and his present owner, Mr Q. Donald, has won four races, while, judging by the manner in which he accounted for his double last Friday, this winning run is far from being at an end.
