The liner Queen Mary caused almost as big a sensation in Kew York on the day of her arrival on her maid.n trip as she did on her departure from Fngland. The Mayor (Mr la Guardia) convened a committee of no fewer than 65 persons, with the distinguished Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler as chairman, to go down the bay and welcome the captain of the giant liner on behalf of the City Mall, folloWed by several offimented by a contingent of some 2000 members of Britieh clubs and societies in New York who chartered a steamer to go down the bay to welcome the vessel. The next day there was an officml reception to the liner's Commander at the City Mall ,followed by several official functions on board the liner herself.
