SILVER JUBILEE
Waipukurau Fire Brigade Celebrates The Waipukurau Volunteer Fire Brigade broughjt tbeir silver jubilee to a successful oonclusion on Monday evening, wben the afficers and members entertained wives and friends of the Brigade at a very enjoyable sqcial evening which was beld in the Fire Brigade hall, Waipukurau. A convivial evening passed all too quickly with "Flag 600", radio music and items given by Mrs Purcell adding to the ehjoyment. Mesdames J. McCartby, J?. Bridgeman and Messrs J. McCarthy and J. A. Chambers received very nice prizes for annexing tbe greatest number of flags. Tbe superintenaent, on behalf of tbe brigade, congratulated tbe winners and presented the prizes. After delicious hot coffe, pies, sqvoury sandwiches and sweets had been partaken of, Superintendent Chambers ^tated the members of the Brigade felt they could not let the Silver Jubilee pass without showing tlieir appreciation to the ladies who had assisted them in their work during their 25 years existence. He heartily thanked everyone for their. assistance and hoped they would have another 25 years and then they would celebrate their Golden Jubilee. Mr E. J. Turner, speaking on behalf of the visitors, thanked the brigade for the most enjoyable entertainmemt and wished tbem many more years of usetulness. The singing of "For They are Jolly Good Fellows" brought a very liappy eve«ing to a close.
