Rescuer's Underground Swim to Shaft DRAMA 300 FEET DOWN
(Received January 27, 12.15 p.m.; RUGBY, Jan. 26. Three Cornish miners who had been trapped for 49 hours over 300 feet below the surface ih the Wheal Reeth tin mine, near Penzance, reached safety after a comrade had risked his lifo by swimming under water to the shaft in which they were imprisoned. Miners had worked continuously at' the pumps lowering the level of the water which had rushed into the mine,
