FOXTON, Jan. 26. The auxiliary scow Huanui became ' stranded on the sotith spit at the Manawatu Heads on Saturday, when endeavouring to make port with 120 tons of coal from Greymouth. The weather was very boisterous at the time, and all efforts to refloat the vessel up to the present have been unsuccessful. The Haunui is well-known in Napier, formerly being on the Auckland-Gis-borne-Napier run. On one occasion ! she went ashore between Gisborne abat- ; toirs and the mouth of the Waipaoa ! river, and three men subsequently lost ' their lives when a small boat upset in the surf during the efforts to get the vossel afinait. ,
