Ship Sunk by Submarine During War SALVAGE HOPED FOR (Reeeived January 26, 1.5 p.m.) GENOA, Jan, 25, The salvage ship Artiglio has located the wreck of the British Steam Navigation Co. 's Mongara, which was torpedoed by a 'German submarine in the Straits of Messina (between Italy and Sicily) on the way to Londoxi. froax Sydney on July 3, 1917. Her cargo, which , was insured foi £75,000, ineluded 400 tons of copper, 500 tons of zinc, 200 tons of lead, and 1800 tons of stedl. The wreck lies at a depth of 1000 feet at a spot where currents will make salvage very difficult.
