WOMEN'S INSTITUTE — PUKEHOU MEETING

Pukehou Women 's Institute. held its monthly cneeting last Thursday when in the unavoidable absence through 111ncss of Mrs Murley, president, Mrs Campbell presided'over the meeting. After the usual business routine was over, Mrs Neave demonstrated on silk lamp-shade making. A pleasing feature of the afternoou was when Mrs Campbell called on Mrs Ronald Phillips who was recently married, to open the gifts given to her by her fellow meaibers. After the parcels were opened and viewed, Mrs Phillips in. a neat little speech thanked one and. all for the many and useful gifts they had given her. The competitions for the afternoou were a hand-made handkerchief, which resulted, Mrs Donald 1, Mrs Cullen 2 and 3; best bloom, Mrs Donald 1, Mrs Cullen 2. A delightful tea was served by thq hostesses, Mesdames Cullen and Priest and Misses Sinclair and Moore. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very happy afternoon to a close,.
