ENJOYABLE REVUE

Coimors and Paul Production GEORGE WALLACE AGAIN

Enjoyable enterta'inment was provided again last night m the Connors and Paul production "Calling All Stars", headed by New Zealand's favourite vaudpville artist, George Wallace, which drew a good house at the Muuicipal Theatre, Hastings. Four years hav^ passed since George Wallace sang catchy little songs and . told breezy little stories on a "Hastings 6tage, ■ but four years have in no manner changed the popular Australian comedian. Just how popular he is was demonstrated by the loud applause i from the packed house when he made his first entry ; that he is as amusing I as ever was 6hown by the clapping and cheering that followed each clever sketch. Queeni© Paul and Mike Connors were probably at their best in "The Object of My Affection," a tuneful duet given in a most effective" settiug. Miss Paul also gave an attractive rendering of "Did I Remember?" wkile Mike Connors proved an admirablo foil for George Wallace Minnie Love appears as an accomplished impersonator and she immediately proved herself by cleverly imitating Mauric© Chevalier. Exceptionally well received among the other artists were Jimmy Coates, on the saxophone, Miss Nellie Kolle, and Lulla Fanning, the cqmedienne. The tenor solos of Leo Trenette were delighti'ully rendered. A pleashig tapdancing item was given by Itex and Bcssie, the Russell Brothers were seen in an unusual silhouette number, and the Marcella Trio proved expert adagio dancers. Others who assisted included Edna Hardy, Will Miller, Laurel Streeter, Ginger James and Russell Gough. The company has the advantage of a .clever and attractive ballet, the "Sunkissed Beauties," whose work is of a high standard. Efn Beacham and his orchestra provide the mus:c.
