HASTINGS CLUB Friday being a holiday -in Hastings, Ihe Hastings Bowling Club held a full riiik tournament, and quite a large number of bowlers were ptesent. Havelock club, Kia Toa and National Ser.vice were represented. The weather was beautifully fine, but. there was a tricky wind. The green Was fast and inany gfood -games were enjoyed. At the end of the day's play the Havelock team, comprised of Flanders, Hay, Crombie and Anderson came through with five wins and no losses. The next in the running were the rinks skipped by Bissell, Garland and Bewley, with three wins each. On the Hastings club's green on Thursday afternoon the following ^ames were played under ideal conditions, and some very even games wero the order of the day : — Douthwaite, Fowler, Claughton, White (s) 16; South, Fenton, Crichton. Three Omarunui rinks were euccessful and two rinks were beaten; The aggregate of points f&vjured Heretaunga, who posted 91, against Omarunui's 88. The green was very fast, and a high wind made accurate drawing very difficult A very pleasant afternoon was spent. and the hospitality extended was greatly appreciated by the visiting bowlers. He also welcomed the visitors, ineluding Mr P. Skoglund, who Jigured prominently in the Dominion rink games. Messrs Thomas and Engebretsen ac* knowledged the president 's reception in reply, relating. a few incidents aasociated with the play in Wellington, while Mr Skoglund also expressed his appreciation of the Napier club's gveen and the members' hospitality, and gave some interesting details of his rink's experience at Wellington.
