Hastings Competitions YESTERDAY'S PLAY The Hastings Cricket Sub- Association' s mid-week competition was re.sumed at Nelson Park yesterday ufternoon, conditions being good for play. Two games were contiuued, Heretaunga and West End, and Methodist and IJnited. Methodist won oy 81 runs, and Heretaunga won by four wickets. Continuing their first innings, Onited, who, at close of play on January 7 were three wickets down for 153, knocked up 242 (Mahoney 141 jot out, Mitchell 10, Shattky 47, Brimer 11; Watkins four for 82, Broadhurst three for 24). Methodis/b compiled 239 in their first mnings. and declared at 168 for five wickets in the se-_ond innings (Wikins 114, Ball 35; Slahoney, two for 50; Mit'cheil two ior 58). United in their second knock played a man short, being all out ior 84 (McNab not out 34 and Swallow 13 ; BalJ gix for 29, Gosnell three for 31). In their first inningis West End made 142 and in the second innings knocked ap 123 (Hallagan 44, Arthur 12, Rosenberg io, Ladbrook 17; Sbuker six for 5 Waymouth' two for 36). Heretaunga made 135, with four wickets in hand, in their second innings which, wifh their 134 in ihe first inuings, gave them the match. Shuker 28, Rouse 16, Giorgi 31 (not out), Kitt 31, Ingram 15 (not out) ; four of the Heretaunga players were ruri out, out of the six wick^ta that fell.
