Laiw to be Completely Overhauled EVIDENCE INVITED

WELLINGTON, Jan. 22, . A complete revision of the land and income-tax legislaiton is proposed by the Government, and much preparatory' work has already been done. Diseussing the question yesterday, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M, J. Savage, aa acting.-Minister of Finance^ said that the speciai commitee appointed by the Minister of Finance, the Hon. Waiter Nash, fo rthis purpose had made good progress with its work. Mr. J. M. Park, deputy-Conunissioner of Taxes, is chairman of the eommittee, which consists of repxesentativos of Ihe Land and Ineome. Tax • Department, Treasury, the Grown Law Office, alid tho office, of the Minister of Finance. Mr. Savage said that in view of the fact that the last consolidation of this legislation was made in 1923, it is recognised that a complete revision is necessary and that there are existing many ' anomalies which must be removed, The Government weuld be glad to receive representations from interested bodie3 and individuals which would help the commitee in its task., Such representations should be addressed to the secretary of the committee in the office of the Minister of Finance, when they would receive the most "thorough and careful consideration, "The Government is anxious to have the co-operation "of all persons concerned in order that the legislation to be introduced into the House next session should be satisf actoxy, " added the Prime Minister. ,
