Christchurch Decision

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 21. In the face of a good deal of opposition from some Labour members, tlnj Christchurch Tramyvay Board, on which there is an overwhelming majority of Labour members, decided to make slight increases in certain fares. The increases are required to meet the added running costs owing to the recent legislation. The increases are: 3/- weekly pass to be 3/0; 4/- weekly pass to be 4/G and a reduction of one ride in trip concession tickets. The revenue required to meet the increased costs is estimated at £26,000, and the increased farea agreed upon will produce £10,000. The balance will ha,ve to be borne by the ratepayers.
