YEAR BOOK REVISED
Useful Data Added Although still appreciably smaller in size than the 1926-1931 issues, the New Zealand Official ear Book for 1937, a copy of which has now been received from the Government Printer, contains severl new features, particularly those dealing with subjects which have acquirod an added importance during the last 12 mo'nths. New sections appearing for the first time aie a section on broadcasting, which replaces the brief references previonsly inc.luded in the poStal and telegraph ic sectit J and also a seetidn on consumption of commodities. In view of the w orld-wide attention heing directod to problems of nutrition, the informaiion contained in this section ihakes a valuable contribution to the statistical knowledge of this Subject. Heveral seciions have been revised and enlarged. Oue of the most important of thesc is that dealing with labour laws and allied legislation. The year 1936 was very productive of labour and social legislation, and the section has been considerably expanded to include a descriptive summary of the laws passed during the 1936 session of Parliament. Another section which has been entirely re-written is that on building and construction, which provides, in addition to a short historical account of progress in this sphere of economic activity, new analyses o± building costs. The references to recent developments in aericriitural policy, which were introduced into the year book] for the first time last year, have now been enlarged and* .brought up to'date.
