Surprise at New Zealand Championships

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 20. Perfeet weather prevailed to-day for the second day of the New' Zealand croquet championships. The greens were in excellent eondition. The surprise of Ihe day was the defeat of A. G. F. Ross and Mr Watkins, holders of the Dominion doubles championship, by Mesdames Gambrill and Pitcaithly 26 — 4.
