Some Likely Performers
(By Telegraph-
JrALMEJttisTUJN JN., Jan. 21. With a good many Hawke's Bay horses engaged at the annual fixture of the Ashhurst Club at Ashhurst tomorrow, it is reasonable to expect Hawke's Bay owners to get their share of the stake money offering. Fields are good all round, and there is some duplication -of acceptances and this may have the effect of fining them do wn somewhat. The Ashhurst Cup sees Grand Jury at the head of affairs, but he may find it difficult to concede weight to some of the improving lightweights, despite his success at Feilding a few weeks ago. Orac is a newcomer to this track and he will go well round these turns, although he has yet to prove himself at the distance, and the seven furlongs of the final event will suit him better. Full Throttle is racing a bit better now, and Master Cyklon is on the up grade. Davistock is coming down in the fveights now and may be a hard horse to dispose of, for twelve months ago he was racing well in this type of field. Pango is likely to be one of the prime fancies after his recent showinga and Ingenuity and Blue Garter may do best of the others. It is a bit of a puzzle, but Davistock may be the fight horse. Lavina and Notium are a likely pair engaged in the Pohangina. Handicap, in which the dass is definitely not good and there may not be more than five or six runners. This pair are also in the final race, the Raumai Handicap, and the latter event is certain to see many defections, Mustang and the three-year-old Brazen King may do well over seven furlongs. The following should run well to-mor-row •• — 12.0, HACK HURDLES.— Count | Willonyx, Midacre, Monarchv. 12.40, POHANGINA BEANDICAP.— Lavina, Notium, Porotiti. 1.20. KOMAKO HACK.— Royal Minstrel, First Chapter, Mohua. 2.0. ASHHURST CUP.— Davistock, Pango, Orac (or Ingenuity). 2.45. NOVICE STAKES Maalianui, Trimden, Gironde. 3.30, HACK CUP.— Red Sand, Waipiro, Hamarin 4.15, SIBERIA HACK— Eagle's Eye, First Chapter, Mister Quex. 5.0, RAUMAI HANDICAP.— Brazeii King, Mustang, Orac (or Hunting jbodge).
