MT. TAUHARA TRACK

Visitors State That It Is Neglec'ted CLIMBING DIFFICULT A party of Hawke's Bay visitors to Taupo reeently was di'smaved to find that the track to the summit of Mount Tauhara had been neglected and was so much overgrown that the climbing was very difficult. In the past it has been the practice of the Taupo Boad Board to have the track cleared thoroughly once a year, and the visitors expre^sed disappointment that it had not been done for some time. ''From the top of the motintain one obtains a wonderful view of the surrounding part of the North Island," said one of the party, ' ' and it is a pity j to see a 'scenie attraction such as this j neglected in the way it is. Both the track itself and the car approach to it was thoroughly overgrown by fern and scrub." The visitor remarked also that a i small detour off the main Napier-Taupo road at the top of the Taurangakumu hill had been so neglected that it wais now not negotiable by car. As this ! portion of the xoad alfforded another fine panoramic view, he considered that it was worth the while of the authorities to attend to it.
