New Traffic Officer
DUNEDIN MAN Ako Qualifiej Sanitary intpector T0 ARRIVE m MONTH Mr David Manu, of the St. Kilda Borough Gouncil, haa been appointed to thd position of Hastings borough traffic officer. This was announced this morning by the' Mayor, Mr G A. Maddison, following a meeting of the Hastings Borough Council last night, when appiications for the position were considered. It will, however, probably he a month before Mr Mtoon is able to take up his new duties. Mr Maddison stated that tkere were 42 applications for tke position, and after careftil coiieideration, tke couiicil unanimously agreed to the appointffieat of Mr Manu, Mr Mana is at present tke traffic, tcsting and sanitary officer for tko St. Kilda Borough Council, Dunedin, wkick position he kas keld for two years. Commenting on the appointment, Mr Maddison stressed the fact that Mr Manu was tke holder of a sanitary officer 's certificate, and, tkat, should the Borough Health Officer be incapaeitated or away, tken it wonld be possible to make use of Mr Manu 's knowledge. " At tke present time, when tke health officer is away, we are 'dbinpelied to seek the assistance of the Health Department," remarkcd the Mayor, "and with Mr Manu on the council staff, tkis will be obviated."
