WHITE CLOVER CROP
Best Pasture Seen For Years PROUFIC FEED Although very few farmers have troubled to have certified crops of white clover, what. crops there are are better this season in Hawke's Bay than for a number of years past. Some farmers state that they have not seen it looking so well before. This season it is to be seen established in places where it was only scantily grown previously. On many of the roadsides it is growing prolifically3 providing a luxuriant pasture to travelling stock. Many small paddocks have been almost white with clover bloom, alfoTding a r'emarkable feeding ground for bees from which apiarists are likely to reap considerable benefit. The phenomenal growth of white clover has contributed to the exceptional briskness at present ruling in the store sheep market. Qn their good swards of clover many farmers are hoping to turn into good account the pens of store lambs which they are readily purchasing at very advanced price levels. Good fattening pasture is what many are pinning their faith on, and in this respect white clover will undoubtedly play its full part. On top-dressed lands white clovers have shown an " overnight" establishment. Mushroom growth is very notieeable where super has been applied, the response on seeond-class land being very gratifying. A particular instance of tMs has taken place at Mount Cameron.
