The open event, the Trial, will in all possibility be run in two divisions. Tbe Goldfields Cup of £250 and trophy, run over ten furlongs, has enticed a dozen acceptors, and the race has every appearance of furnishing a spirited contest as well as a good betting event. Tried borses will face tbe stai'ter, as well as one or two most oromisingj "hacks.'' Nine sprinters of good class will weigh up for the Flying Handicap, and this event, like the cup, will prove a most interesting race.
