RABBITS NOT DESTROYED
Patoka Man Fined £5 32 SEEN ON ONE DAY For failing to destroy rabbits on his property at Waihau, Patoka, Frederi'ck W. A. Burling was convicted and fined £5, with costs £3 6/-, by Mr. J. Miller, S.M., in the Napier Magistrate'* Oourt yesterday. Joseph Whittle, an inspeetor for the Hawke's Bay Rabbit Board, said evidenca that wben he inspected Bm ling's property on three occasions the;\ were far too many rabbits. On one day alone he saw 32. The propertieR adioining were quite free of rabbits. "Mnid you, Burling's property has a lot. of rough coimtry, hut even so, I think it could bave been better." ho added. Mr. H. B. Lusk: I am instructed b\ the Rabbit Board not. to preSs for n heavy penalty. Mr. Miller: I'U respent that, but I can'.t make the fine less than £5.
