NAPIER CLUB

The heavy rains on Friday made the greens run heavy, but apart from this bowlers were enabled to enjoy a ful] af ternoon 's play on Saturday. Owing to severai skips bein out of the district the Napier club had many rinks controlled by players new to the position and in every instance they proved worthv substitutes. The game between Daily' and Belcher was very even up to the 18th head, 16 — 17 in favour of Belcher, who eventually carried his total to 24 and won by ©ight points. Williams held a small lead over Wright, but in the closing stages the latter monopoUsed the scoring and won by four points. Burgess held the lead throughout in his game with Sweetapple, scoring heavily in the last few heads. GUberd and McKee opened weU, but half-way through McKee failed to score on severai heads, his opponent eventually scoring a comfortable win. Elmes and Fowler staged an interesting bout, the issue being in doubt untU the last bowl rested, Elmes winning by a single. Although the scores were close, Plested's rink appeared stronger than Renouf's and a four* point win to the former is a fair eriterion of the game.
