Famous Journal Ends Separate Career Toronto, Canada's large industrial town, a few years ago had three morning and three evening newspapers, nowr its citizens are being served by a total of three — two ln the evening and one in the morning. The reason being that the G-lobe, under new ownership and undergoing a reorganisation, bought the Mail and Empire. The two papers will appear jointly under the name "The Globe and Mail." Control of the Glabe was acquired in Novemher last by Mr C. George McOullagh, now its president and publisher, with the financial baeking of W. H. Wright, mining financier of Barrie, Ontario. Mr Wright also supported the purehase and absorptioil of the Mail and Empire. The Globe purchased the goodwill, cireulation and assets of the Mail and Empire, besides its property at King and York streets. The present building site of the Mai! and Empire will be leased as the publishing and production headquarters of the Globe and Mail.
