SWIMMING "HOPE" Newcastle Boy a Possibility For Olympics RESULTS FROM SYDNEY

(Eeceived January 18, 8.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 17. The swimming ehampionships which have jiist concluded here resulteA in fhe discovery of a 15-yeaf-old Newcastle boy champion, E. Newbiggin, who is regarded as a definite Olympic hope. On t'our oceasions in the week he smashed the 110 yards junior record end capped everything by winning the 220 yards country junior championship yesterday in the record time of 2.22 4-5. The 220 yards Australian championship was won by N. Byai. from the title-holder, W. Fleming (Queensland) in 2.18 1-5, which is a fecdrd for an Aus:ralian-born competitor. The 220 yards women 's chatnpionship of Australia was won by Dorothy Green from the titfie-holder, E. de Lacey, both Western Australians. W. Mackay was third. The winner'g time is a record — 2.32 1-5. The high board diving championship was won by the Victorian, R. Masters.
